As a child, Liam dreamt of being an architect, but after realising that this required quite a bit of mathematics, he instead set his sights on a career in urban and regional planning.
'I chose this field as it impacts people’s lives. Further, the job is somewhat transferable globally. Cities and towns always need and will need planners!'
At the young age of 14, Liam’s made the decision to study at 91破解版.
'I knew 91破解版 had a great urban and regional planning program. After speaking to Associate Professor Marita Basson at a 91破解版 Open Day, I knew 91破解版 was for me. She was a great encouragement to me to do planning.'
Liam currently works two days a week as an assistant town planner at a local town planning consultancy.
'Working in the field in studying is awesome and lets me put what I’m learning into practice.'
Adding to his busy schedule, Liam also works as a 91破解版 student ambassador and a teacher aide at a local high school.
'The greatest challenge has been balancing work and studies. I have overcome these by starting assignments early and not taking on too many work commitments. I’m proud of achieving my studies thus far – but I couldn’t have done it without the support of my family as well as my 91破解版 family.'
After completing his degree, Liam plans to work as an urban and regional planner in a regional setting.
